Situated on a north facing slope on the Toowoomba Range, this site is elevated with sweeping views north towards Hampton and Ravensborne National Park.  The house and garden have a classic character borne from the horizontal lines of the architecture and the expansive outdoor areas.  Significant mature trees on and next to the site frame magnificent views and provide the basis for a classic Toowoomba garden.

The Client's Brief

Our clients were keen to be involved in the building of their garden and we worked closely with them during the design development.  To ensure the character of the property was intact and future needs were addressed, we were commissioned to provide a master plan that could be executed in stages.


Local stone was chosen as a feature material because of its permanence and sense of timelessness.  Low retaining walls formed a series of formal lawns defined by compact hedges.  Gentle curves were chosen to compliment and soften the edges to hardstand areas and rock retaining walls.

Generously proportioned stairs and landings provide an elegant entrance to the house and make a significant visual impact from the street.

Weeping ornamental trees and traditional garden beds have been moulded with a carefully selected planting palette of native species that will compliment the existing garden framework and perform well in the local conditions.
